On September 11, 2026, the University of Vienna will host the workshop "Risk, Measurement and Risk Perceptions" in the OMDS Seminar Room 3.307 (Oskar Morgenstern Platz 1). The workshop brings together economists from across Europe to discuss current research on risk, entrepreneurship, and common ownership.

Program

Following the opening at 9:00, the first session focuses on entrepreneurship. Fabian Greimel (University of Vienna) opens with a talk on the credit-line channel of contagion between shared borrowers. After the coffee break, Fabian Prettenthaler (VGSE) speaks on business risk, taxation, and economic welfare, followed by Monika Merz (University of Vienna) on heterogeneous risk preferences, entrepreneurship, and wealth.

After lunch, the second session turns to common ownership. Constanza Consolandi (University of Siena) presents a measurement framework for portfolio externalities and system-level risk. Thomas Gehrig (University of Vienna) offers an axiomatic approach to measuring common ownership, and the day closes with Maria Chiara Iannino (University of St Andrews) and Christian Westheide (Stockholm University) presenting on common ownership and systemic risk in European banking.

The workshop is generously sponsored by the OeNB Anniversary Fund.
