Pello Aspuru (New York University)
Pello Aspuru is a research economist specializing in energy, environmental, and political economy issues. His work focuses on the political and regulatory barriers to the energy transition, and he is excited to join the department to further develop his research agenda. Before joining the department, he spent a year as an Economics Fellow at the Policy Integrity think-tank, contributing to projects on coal plant emissions, offshore oil and gas drilling, and more.
Pello earned his Ph.D. in Economics from CEMFI under Gerard Llobet, with a dissertation on how fossil-fuel-dependent communities influence policy to delay the transition. During his Ph.D., he visited Columbia University, the Toulouse School of Economics, and the Barcelona School of Economics. Outside work, he enjoys museums, galleries, cooking, and current affairs, and looks forward to exploring Vienna.
